AT FKT 2024

My latest project is attempting to set the overall FKT (fastest known time) on the Appalachian Trail. I will be beginning at Mt. Katahdin and head southbound for Springer Mountain. This will be a supported attempt per Fastestknowntime.com.. “Supported trips can have as much support as you can enlist, as long as you are entirely self-powered. This can range from one person accompanying you for part of the run, to an entire team that runs with you the whole distance giving you everything short of physical assistance. Whether it’s just once or continuously, any support at all means it’s a supported trip. On many routes, the supported style can enable the fastest trips due to the ability to carry less weight. To get a supported FKT you also have to also beat the fastest self-supported and unsupported times.”

I want to express that this FKT is not my lone project because without a dedicated crew this would not be possible. I am workshopping some “group” names at the moment but am thinking Chump Change FKT. In 2020 when I was attempting to set my first FKT on the Mountains-To-Sea Trail my best friend Rascal came up with this saying. She expressed the mere 40+ miles I was walking every day was just “chump change” in hopes it would center my anxious mind and put everything into perspective. Well it worked and here we are 4 years later going at it again. Rascal will be crew chief, my mom (Omi) and Kenny Powers will be full time crew. I will have many other friends join the adventure along the way. I will be named “the driver” much like F1 vehicle driver. Chump Change Crew hopes to travel the trail in less than 41 days 7 hours and 39 minutes which is the current record held by Karel Sabbe. Beginning mid August 2024! Tracking information coming soon! Below is a video I made going into further detail about what this will look like.
